Area 51, The Windward Islands. May & June 2010
Ok so it’s only taken us a year to update the website, but honestly – we’ve been really busy!
So after a fun but exhausting ski season, we finally headed back to the sun and onto new adventures with The Moorings. Our first boat was a 4700 Leopard called 'Area 51' (yes the owners believe in aliens). She was old and tired but still in pretty good shape structurally and we spent a good couple of months getting to know her and making her ship shape as well as we could with limited resources.
At first we were literally thrown into the deep end with no time to get to know the sailing ground before we went out on charters, but after a couple of weeks we hit the low season and had a couple of months to truly relax and enjoy the privilege of being on an all expenses paid ‘working’ holiday!
We loved our time ‘off’ on her and had some grand adventures sailing between the islands of St Lucia, St Vincent, Mustique and the Tobago Cays, Union, Carricacou and Grenada, meeting loads of interesting characters and staying in some amazing places.
However, as the saying goes all good things must come to an end and it was time to go back to work and onto pastures new….
